Sanada Yukimura in the development of Japanese myth
Yukimura Sanada (真 田 幸 村?) (? 1567 - June 3, 1615) is a Japanese samurai, second son of the daimyo Sanada Masayuki during the civil war / Sengoku period who served the Takeda clan. Another name is Sanada clan (真 田 信 繁?) Follows the name of the brother of Takeda Shingen, Takeda clan who was a brave and honorable soldier.
1582, the alliance Tokugawa Ieyasu and Oda Nobunaga destroyed the Takeda clan that gave the Sanada clan Oda Nobunaga. But after Nobunaga was killed in the incident Honouji, Sanada clan become independent without a master. They successively served on the powerful clans of the time like Uesugi, Hojo, and Tokugawa. Year 1585, Yukimura sent as a hostage for the Uesugi clan by his father, he lived there under the supervision of Chikamitsu Suda. After returning, he married one of his daughters Otani Yoshitsugu.
In 1600, the Battle of Sekigahara erupted between western forces, led by Ishida Mitsunari, guardian Toyotomi clan and eastern forces led by Tokugawa Ieyasu. In this battle Yukimura and his father, Masayuki pro-western forces, but his brother, Sanada Nobuyuki side with Tokugawa. Yukimura won popularity in the defense of Ueda Castle where he was holding 40,000 troops led by Tokugawa Hidetada only with 2000 people. Tokugawa Ieyasu almost to death all the Sanada clan because they are hard resistance, but because it looked Nobuyuki who sided with him, he only alienate Yukimura and Masayuki into Kudoyama, province of Kii. There, Masayuki died, rumors say he was murdered on the orders of Tokugawa Ieyasu.
Twelve years later, relations between the Tokugawa and Toyotomi clans began to heat up again, feel Ieyasu Toyotomi Hideyori adulthood has become a threat to him. Toyotomi clan itself also began to gather strength again to avenge the defeat at Sekigahara, they recruit the ronin / samurai no man's land to face the Tokugawa. In 1614, Yukimura escaped from the Kii and devote themselves to Toyotomi. Winter of that year, the residence of Toyotomi of Osaka Castle besieged. Yukimura strengthen its defenses in the south of the castle is weak, from here he fought with the Tokugawa forces to use firearms. His army, amounting to 7000 people survive with persistent hold 10,000 troops for a month Tokugawa. Faced with this situation, Tokugawa offers peace negotiations. Hideyori receive these negotiations so that gives an opportunity for the Tokugawa to gather the strength to hold the attack again next year.
May 1915, in the Summer Battle of Osaka, Yukimura no longer a defensive battle, this time he launched a large-scale invasion directly to the important position of enemy troops. Invasion is so great that several times successfully through the Tokugawa main camp. In fact, the Tokugawa himself is said almost committed suicide, but, it seems only a dramatization of this story alone. Yukimura broke through the main camp and nearly three times the Tokugawa approached within a few meters. In the siege he Tokugawa forces fought bravely. But he must be toppled because of the number of enemy troops so much, his body was tired and full of sores. In such circumstances, he opened his helmet and shouted "I Sanada Yukimura, an enemy that commensurate with the you guys, but I'm too tired to fight!". A samurai Tokugawa, Nishio Nizaemon lunged at him and end his life.
Yukimura is a good sword, a strategist and a respected generals talented friend and foe alike. Tokugawa himself admired him and bury him until her death fear.
