Qilin (Mandarin: 麒麟; pinyin: qílín; read: ch'ilin), or often called by the Japanese Kirin, is a mythical creature who appears in many East Asian cultures, and it is said that these creatures appeared simultaneously with the appearance of Sage. It says it's a good sign that carries Rui (Mandarin: 瑞; pinyin: Rui; translation: "prosperity"). Qilin often depicted covered by the fire all over his body.
